Carmel’s In-house Intra-collegiate talent event competition is an open platform for the fresher batch to break the ice and compete with their seniors to battle out over a clash of talents. Carmel invites its alums as judges for the event.
Every Bi-annual year many colleges in and around Bangalore city travel to our campus to participate in the one and only Carmel’s intercollegiate event, ‘Rendezvous’. Organised by the student council, CPUC sees over 60 colleges come together to participate in the two-day event that hosts around 30 cultural and literary-based competitions. The event has been recognised and graced by many celebrities across the state to encourage students to show and use their talents and skills to make a life for themselves
The cricket fever in Carmel reaches its peak when Carmelites prepare themselves to form teams and battle it out on the field with their batting, bowling and fielding abilities. One can see all the groups pooling in the best of their efforts, energy and stamina to fight and emerge as the tournament winner. The best all-rounder, the man of the match, the best bowler and the best fielder are recognised and awarded for their dedication throughout the tournament
An amalgamation of colour and culture is seen every December when students come donned in their attire on ‘Carmel’s Ethnic Day’. A pageantry that provides a platform for students to share their expression of unity in diversity, marking India’s style and tradition. Judges from the fashion, communication and lifestyle industry help decide the starring Carmelites, who are then bestowed with Mister Carmel and Miss Carmel and various other titles.
A social cause with an aroma of fun, Carmel Food Fest is an excellent way for students at Carmel to learn the art of business and support the ones struggling to make ends meet in our society by donating the proceeds to charity. The event takes place over two days, where on the first day teaching staff serve food to students and on the second day the students cook and serve the students and staff. The amount collected from the sale is shared with Vimukthi Charitable Trust every year.
Teacher-Student rapport is a unique feature at Carmel. All look forward to teen’s week, specially organised for students by teachers. A series of events are planned for students as a run-up to November 14th – Children’s day. Our staff set the stage ablaze with their talents to entertain their students.
Once a Carmelite, always a Carmelite; The first Sunday of February is marked in ex-Carmelites’ calendar to reunite, reconnect and reminisce. They all assemble in the College and relive the memories they made during their stay. The association’s executive members plan the day with a sporting event, Cricket and throwball, and end the evening with fellowship.
In junior College, there comes a time when students need to make some life-changing and career-choosing decisions. To guide Carmelites into making the right decision , the management invites its students and their parents under one roof along with experts from various fields like Engineering, Medicine, Paramedics, Defense, and Design who are invited to campus to guide them in making these decisions. The participants get first-hand information about the fields they want to know about. In association with Banjara academy, Carmel also invites students from neighbourhood schools and colleges to witness and share the information.
A blood donation camp in association with Lions Blood bank is organised every September by the NSS unit of CPUC. Our enthusiastic NSS volunteers work towards propagating the uses of donating blood and bringing in donors. Our Alumni, too, are involved in the same, and we see a large flow of public, parents, and eligible youngsters donate blood for the cause
The Investiture Ceremony signifies our confidence in our students to lead the student community. Every year on this day, the elected student body pledge to bestow their duties to the best of their abilities to represent the student community and work towards their betterment. Carmel also releases the Annual edition of the College magazine for the previous academic year. The Toppers of the last batch are honoured on occasion.
January 10th is traditionally an important day in the life of every Carmelite. The entire College community comes together to commemorate the work of our founder Late Alexander Menezes. On the day, several students are recognised by giving awards, the most prestigious being the ‘Best Outgoing Student’ award. The annual newsletter of the year ‘Carmel Inspiration’ is released. Students take the opportunity to exhibit their talents through entertainment programs for the guest. Carmel believes in giving back to those who serve the community; on occasion, an unsung hero from the public service sector in Bangalore is honoured for the service they render to the larger society.
In November, our Annual Athletic meet takes place at the beginning of Term Two. Intramural matches that lead up to the Athletic meet to showcase the hard work, winning and sportsman spirit of our Carmelites. The Results and awards of Championships for athletics and intramural games are announced at the valedictory ceremony.
